Just Because You Can’t, Doesn’t Mean You Can’t

Dear Self,

Just because you can’t, doesn’t mean you can’t.

Let me explain…

I’m proud of you for setting a goal last night of biking 26miles today.
I’m proud of you for getting out of bed at 530am like you said you would.
I’m proud of you for choosing peace and drinking your coffee when your to-do list was a mile long.
I’m proud of you for feeding your mind positive thoughts and journaling.
I’m proud of you for pre-fueling even though you don’t like to.

But most of all I’m proud of you for amending your goal when you realized it was too much.

Instead of letting the reality of not-enough-time, your body not recovering well, and not having enough energy to live your day after said workout make your goal go up in flames you let it redirect your goal.

Just because you can’t physically or can’t time-wise doesn’t mean you can’t. It just means you need to adjust. You still can, just do said goal differently; like 20mi fast instead of 26.

I’m proud of you for doing what you could
with courage and commitment.

That’s why I am proud of you, for doing what you could with courage and commitment when most would have said, “I can’t.”
